Robert Palmer ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Book Companion mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our App.

By using Book Companion, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information Collection

Book Companion is designed with your privacy in mind. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information such as names, email addresses, or phone numbers.

• Email addresses or phone numbers
• Device identifiers or analytics data
• Location information
• Usage statistics or behavior tracking

1.2 Local Data Storage

All your captured pages and highlights are stored locally on your device. This includes:

• Book pages you capture using the camera
• Highlights you create
• Books you add to your collection
• Any notes or organization you create

2. How We Use Information

Since Book Companion operates entirely on your device without collecting personal information, we do not use your information for any purposes. Your data remains under your control at all times.

3. Data Storage and Security

3.1 Local Storage

All data is stored locally on your iOS device using Apple's secure storage mechanisms. We do not have access to this data.

3.2 iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud sync in your device settings, your Book Companion data may be synchronized across your devices using Apple's iCloud service. This synchronization is:

• Controlled entirely by your iOS settings
• Encrypted by Apple's iCloud security
• Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy
• Not accessible to us

3.3 Data Deletion

You can delete your data at any time by:

• Removing individual items within the app
• Uninstalling the app (which removes all local data)
• Disabling iCloud sync in your device settings

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 Apple Services

Book Companion uses the following Apple services:

• In-App Purchases: Processed by Apple. We do not handle payment information.
• iCloud: Optional synchronization handled by Apple's secure infrastructure.
• iOS Sharing: When you share content, it's handled by iOS's built-in sharing functionality.

These services are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

4.2 No Other Third Parties

We do not use any analytics services, advertising networks, or other third-party SDKs.

5. Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your information with third parties.

The only sharing that occurs is:

• When you explicitly choose to share content using iOS's sharing features
• If you enable iCloud sync (data is shared between your own devices via Apple's servers)

6. Your Rights

6.1 Under GDPR (European Users)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights:

• Access: You can access all your data directly within the app
• Rectification: You can edit or update your data within the app
• Erasure: You can delete any or all data within the app
• Data Portability: You can export your highlights as images
• Control: Since we don't collect personal data, you have complete control

6.2 Under CCPA (California Users)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information is collected (we collect none)
• Know whether personal information is sold or disclosed (we do neither)
• Say no to the sale of personal information (not applicable)
• Access your personal information (all data is locally stored and accessible)
• Equal service and price (guaranteed)

7. Children's Privacy

Book Companion is intended for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Since we don't collect any personal information, parents can be assured that their children's privacy is protected when using our app.

8. International Data Transfers

Since Book Companion stores data locally on your device and we don't collect personal information, there are no international data transfers by us. If you use iCloud sync, data transfers are handled by Apple according to their policies.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

• Posting the new Privacy Policy on this page
• Updating the "Last updated" date
• Providing notice within the app for significant changes
